Michael G. Schmitt

Michael G. Schmitt age 56 of Waconia passed away January 1, 2014.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial Saturday January 18, 2014, 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia with Father Martin Shallbetter as Celebrant of the Mass; A gathering of family and friends 1 hour prior to the Mass at the church; Final Resting Place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Waconia.

Michael was born on March 21, 1957 in Shakopee, MN the son of Kenneth and Clare Ann (Borka) Schmitt. He was baptized St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in rural Belle Plaine.

Michael was a handy man, fixing almost anything on his own. He was a talented carpenter, gaining a lot of that knowledge from his father. In his younger days he was always singing and continued throughout his life by singing karaoke.

Michael is survived by his loving family: father and mother Kenneth and Clare Ann Schmitt of Waconia; sisters and brothers Jocelyn (Mark) Wenzel of St. Bonifacius, Vicki (Randy) Ehalt of Mound, Kris (Dale) Worm of St. Bonifacius, Peter Schmitt of Browerville, Daniel (Rita) Schmitt of Waconia, Paul (Michelle) Schmitt of Waconia, Mary Winger of Bloomington; nieces and nephews Sara (Cody) Magnus, Tim (Jessica) Wenzel, Bill Worm and fiancee Ann, Chris (Liz) Ehalt, Ryan (Heather) Ehalt, Becky (Jeff) Forsberg, Melissa (Adam) Harvey, Kevin (Hannah) Worm, Allison, John and Samantha Schmitt; Garrett, Wyatt, Travis and Danielle Schmitt, Madelyn Winger; 12 great-nieces and nephews; aunts and uncle Eugenia Schmitt, Doris and Jerry Worm, Catherine Borka, Loretta Schmitt, Mary Jane Schmitt, Carol and Ron Helming, Judy Pulkrabek; and many cousins.
